Joe Thomas named Miami Dolphins 2016 Walter Payton Man of the Year
Offensive lineman Joe Thomas received an award - Miami Dolphins 2016 Walter Payton Man of the Year. The Dolphins were proud to recognize Thomas contributions with this honor.
The award, named for Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton, goes to one player on each of the league’s 32 teams who displays community service and excellence on the field.
Thomas is the only Dolphins member to recieve the award multiple times. He received the honor in 2010 and was one of three NFL finalists in 2012.
In the 2007 NFL Draft, Thomas was the NO.3 overall pick. He played every possible offensive snap in his all 156 games, which is the longest active stretch in the NFL.
Thomas is the only offensive lineman in league history to be selected to the Pro Bowl in his first nine seasons.
Also, he is the Dolphins’ 2016 Salute to Service Award recipent.
